Carli Brewer Soukup was tragically taken from the world on June 6th, 2021 as the result of a fatal hit and run during a ritual Sunday bike ride. Carli was cycling with her husband of 6 months on Greenville's Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Though a fifth grade teacher by occupation, those blessed with the opportunity to have met her know her as much more than that. Carli was a loving wife. A gracious daughter. An irreplaceable friend. Even in her role as a teacher, Carli imparted more than knowledge on her students (affectionally dubbed the "Brew Crew" during her single years and later the "Soukrew" after her recent marriage with her husband). These children were left with a sense of purpose and affection that transcends any curriculum.

Unfortunately, these children were also left with grief. At an age where a bad day might be caused by a forgotten lunch box or a skinned knee, the loss of a teacher at the dawn of summer break can be unbearable.

The purpose of "Carli's Legacy" and this campaign is to right these wrongs in a two-fold approach, providing financial assistance for:

1) Counseling for Greenville County students in times of need
2) Heightened safety of the Swamp Rabbit Trail to reduce the likelihood of such a tragedy in the future.

Though Carli may have left us physically, her legacy will endure in the students of Greenville County and the patrons of the Swamp Rabbit trail.
